How usage is counted
What is counted is validation run against a saved spec - through the API, the CLI, or the Bridge agent. Anything you check in the browser is invisible to us, so it is free and always will be.
Free, never counted
Everything in the browser: validate, convert, diff, generate, FHIRPath. Your messages are parsed on your own machine and never reach us, so there is nothing for us to count.
Counted against your plan
The validation API, the CLI in CI, and the Bridge agent. Solo includes 10k a month and Team 25k per seat. As a rough feel, 10k a month is around 300 messages a day: a small feed, or a busy CI pipeline. The Bridge agent is counted like the rest, but it validates inside your network and reports the count alone - the messages themselves never reach us.
Not counted at all
Production is flat rate with no meter. A live hospital feed runs far past any monthly allowance, and you should not be doing arithmetic before pointing an interface at us. That is the whole reason the tier exists.
Going over on Solo or Team never blocks anything. It bills at A$4.00 per additional 10,000, and we email you at 80% so it is never a surprise. If you are over most months, Production is almost certainly cheaper than the overage - we will tell you that rather than let it run.

Production is not metered, and unlimited means unlimited. At genuinely exceptional volume we will get in touch to talk about Enterprise - we will not throttle you over volume, and volume alone will never be the reason a live interface is cut off. If you would rather have a hard stop than an overage, Solo and Team can switch one on from your settings.

Is it really free?
Yes. Every HL7v2 and FHIR tool - inspector, viewer, converter, diff, batch validation, generator, FHIRPath, coverage, live probe - is free to use with no account and no limit on how often you use them. The free plan also saves 1 spec, 2 mappings and 5 probe reports per organization.
Is my data safe? What about PHI?
The browser tools parse and validate what you paste on your own machine, and the message is not sent to us. The server features - the validation API, CLI and Bridge agent - process a message in memory and do not persist it. Saving a spec is the exception: examples are part of the spec document, so they are stored with it. Whether that meets your PHI obligations is your call to make against your own policies; the Trust page lists exactly what we retain.

Any message or resource checked against a saved spec through the validation API, the CLI, or the Bridge agent. Solo includes 10k a month, Team 25k per seat, and Production is unlimited. Anything you validate in the browser is free and never counted. Worth being precise about the Bridge agent: it validates inside your own network and sends us the count, not the message - it is metered without your traffic ever reaching us.
Is there a free trial?
Solo and Team come with a free month - card up front, cancel any time before it ends and you are not charged. Nothing is metered or billed during the trial, so use it as hard as you like; that is the point of it. Production does not have a self-serve trial because it is uncapped, but talk to us and we will sort something out.
Is Production really unlimited?
Yes, flat rate whatever your volume. Production is the plan where you point every inbound feed at us, and you should never be doing arithmetic before wiring up an interface. If your volume grows to the point where flat rate stops making sense for us, we will call you and talk about Enterprise - we will not surprise you with a bill or throttle a live feed.
What happens if I go over my allowance on Solo or Team?
Nothing breaks. We do not cut anyone off over a billing threshold - you keep validating and the overage appears on your next invoice. We email you at 80% so there are no surprises, and if you are regularly over, Production is probably cheaper than the overage.
Can I use it in CI?
Yes, on any paid plan. The CLI takes an API key, runs anywhere, and returns JUnit, GitHub or JSON reports with a non-zero exit code on failure. CLI runs count against your monthly validation allowance.
What happens to my saved work if I downgrade?
Nothing is deleted. If you cancel and end up over a free limit - more than 1 spec, say - everything stays accessible and readable. You just cannot create new items above the cap until you are back under it or upgrade again.
What is the difference between Solo and Team?
The difference is mostly colleagues, and partly headroom - Team carries 25 saved specs to Solo's 5, 25 share links to 3, and 120 validations a minute through the API to 30. Solo is one person with their own workspace, which is what an independent consultant needs. Team adds seats, roles and specs your whole group works from, so the spec is one source of truth rather than a YAML file someone emailed around. If you need to invite anyone, you need Team.
How does pricing scale with headcount?
Team is A$29 per seat per month, or A$290 per seat billed annually. Production is a flat A$199 a month for the whole organization no matter how many people are on it, because at that point you are paying for traffic, not seats. All prices are in AUD.
